Summertime heat is a force to be reckoned with, especially in a warehouse where you have employees and products that may not be able to withstand the heat. With spring approaching and summer following quickly behind, it's important to get a head start on purchasing and installing fans so you're not trying to beat the heat last minute. Before you make the purchase, it's important to be aware of the importance of fans and what your options are.

Why are Warehouse Fans Important?

Especially if you live in the south, you already know that trying to air condition a large warehouse is difficult and expensive. Instead, you must resort to more cost-efficient ways of regulating the temperature: fans. Whether the warehouse is open or is full of pallet racks, it's important that there is circulation in open parts of the warehouse as well as between racks. Aside from comfort for employees, having the proper fans throughout your warehouse can save you a lot of money. Employees that are hot, dehydrated, and overall uncomfortable won't be meeting deadlines as efficiently as an employee who is comfortable in their work conditions. Save your employees and save money!

Best Warehouse Fans

Believe it or not, there are many different kinds of fans other than the box fan that sat in grandma's house or in the window when the AC stopped working during a hot summer night. Especially in the warehouse and distribution industry, it's important to know what kind of fans to purchase and where to utilize them.

High Velocity Fans. Also known as "Tube Fans," these fans regulate condensation and are extremely versatile in the warehouse. They usually come in sizes varying from 10" all the way up to 34" in diameter!

HVLS Fans. These fans are often referred to as "Big Ass Fans." HVLS (High Velocity Low Speed) fans distribute large amounts of air and help maintain temperatures in summer and winter. During the summer, it helps to keep the air circulating and during the winter, the low speed helps push heat down towards workers. You can choose between a gear-driven or a gearless fan. The latter option is best if you need a low noise fan.

Loading Dock Fans. You guessed it…these loading dock fans are used at loading docks, usually mounted about 7 feet up. These fans help cool off trucks and disperse truck odors so operations can continue after

Pick Module Fans. When it comes to airflow between racks, this is the fan you want! Rack mount fans allow the fans to be mounted at the end of the modules, pallet racks, etc. and are adjustable, allowing the air to be directed where it's needed most. Another option is the Quiet Fan. Once again, you guessed it! The primary perk of this fan is how quiet it is and is a great option for when picking commands need to be heard by employees.
